Faculty Coordinators: Mr. S.N. Sharma and Mrs Pinki

Introduction and Objectives

The Department of Computer Science, RPS College of Engineering, organized an industrial visit for second semester students to the Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), Pilani, Rajasthan on 24th March 2026. A total of 99 students from CSE 2nd Sem and CS(AIML) 2nd Sem accompanied by two faculty members, Mr. S.N. Sharma and Madam Pinki, participated in this academic excursion.

The visit was planned with the objective of exposing students to advanced research facilities and enabling them to understand the practical applications of concepts taught in the classroom. CEERI, being a premier research institute under CSIR, provided an ideal environment for students to witness cutting‑edge developments in electronics, computer science, and allied fields.

Objectives of the Visit

  • To provide students with firsthand exposure to research and development activities in electronics and computer science.
  • To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation.
  • To encourage students to explore career opportunities in research, innovation, and higher studies.
  • To foster interaction between students and scientists working on national‑level projects.

Activities and Experiences

Orientation Session

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by CEERI officials. An orientation session was conducted, where the history, mission, and achievements of CEERI were presented. The session highlighted CEERI’s contributions to microelectronics, robotics, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor technology.

Laboratory Tour

Students were divided into groups and taken on guided tours of various laboratories:

  • Semiconductor Fabrication Lab: Demonstrations of chip design and fabrication processes.
  • Robotics and Automation Lab: Showcasing robotic arms, autonomous systems, and AI‑driven automation.
  • Advanced Computing Facilities: Exposure to high‑performance computing systems and applications in data science.

·

Interactive Sessions

CEERI scientists and researchers engaged with students in interactive discussions. Topics included:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications.
  • VLSI design and embedded systems.
  • Robotics in industrial and medical applications.
  • National projects involving electronics for defense and communication.

Demonstrations

Students witnessed live demonstrations of robotic systems, microelectronic devices, and AI‑based applications. These demonstrations provided a practical perspective on how theoretical concepts are applied in real‑world scenarios.
