Introduction
An
educational visit to the Surajkund International Crafts Mela was
organized by RPSCET Balana on 7th February 2026. A total of 54 students (B-Tech
CSE/AIML 4th Sem) participated in this visit under the guidance of
faculty coordinators Mr. Deepak Sharma and Ms. Minakshi. The trip aimed to
provide students with exposure to India’s rich cultural heritage, traditional
crafts, and diverse art forms.
About
Surajkund Mela
The
Surajkund International Crafts Mela is held every year in Surajkund, Faridabad,
Haryana. It is one of the largest craft fairs in the world, showcasing
handicrafts, handlooms, cultural performances, and cuisines from different
states of India and various countries. The mela provides a platform for
artisans to display their talent and promote traditional craftsmanship.
Activities
and Observations
During the visit, students explored
various stalls displaying:
- Handicrafts and handmade
artifacts
- Traditional textiles and
embroidery work
- Pottery, paintings, and wooden
crafts
- Regional cuisines from
different states
Students interacted with artisans
and learned about the techniques and materials used in crafting products. Live
cultural performances, including folk dances and music, were also enjoyed by
the students. The vibrant atmosphere and colorful decorations made the
experience memorable and educational.
